Since the 1930s, Raetihi Lodge has built a reputation as one of the most popular destinations in the Marlborough Sounds. The Lodge was extensively rebuilt in 2000, after a fire destroyed the buildings.
In April 2014, Alan and Liane Campbell purchased Raetihi Lodge. With the expert guidance of an interior designer and experienced builder, further renovations and upgrades, combined with a fresh, contemporary interior décor, were completed over 2014/15. The Lodge buildings; internal spaces; floating jetty, gardens, grounds and staff accommodation were all upgraded and improved, and a boat was purchased to facilitate guest transfers.
Our accommodation and facilities are rated 4-star plus Hosted Qualmark, with luxury and comfort amidst the serenity and nature of the Marlborough Sounds. We have received rave reviews & Certificates of Excellence from Trip Advisor over the last two seasons, and look forward to delivering another season of fine food, service, facilities and experiences to all our guests.
Alan has a long association with the Sounds, growing up at his parent’s bach in the Queen Charlotte Sound, and more recently at his own bach in the Mahau Sound. Embarking on the adventure of Raetihi Lodge makes for an interesting addition to exploring for minerals around the world.
